Christchurch February 2011 Earthquake

Everyone in Christchurch and throughout New Zealand has their own experience, story, and memory of the February earthquake. I would like to start by saying our thoughts are still with all those who lost loved ones, those who lost their homes and their businesses.

As I write this in December 2011 many of us are still living with daily compromises in our personal lives, and different challenges in our businesses. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our Surefire Design clients, locally and around New Zealand for the support and kindness they have shown us this year.

We have clients who have lost their homes. We have clients who lost their businesses in the CBD. I am amazed to see the resilience and courage of business owners in Christchurch. Some of our clients have headed south and setup their businesses elsewhere. Others have found temporary offices. And still others have made the permanent move to a home office.

One thing has been consistent across the board. It has become even more important to let your clients know you are still there, and to let your clients know WHERE you are now! Within days of Feburary 22nd we were helping clients change and update earthquake messages on their home pages, and since then many have been updating contact pages with new locations.

24th March 2011 we were allowed back in for three hours under strict Civil Defence guidelines. All of the essential computers and documents were removed on the day of the earthquake.
